Creating a Display

The display is an important part of attracting people to your project. The display must reflect the topic accurately.

For an experiment, you are encouraged to use demonstrations and hands on materials like models and videos, etc. during public viewings. However, these demonstrations cannot be used during judging.

For an innovation, you are encouraged to demonstrate how your prototype actually works.

For a study, you are encouraged to show any evidence that supports your claims (graphs, tables, etc.).

These additions will aid in attracting people to your display, as well as generating interest and questions.

This video contains ideas for creating effective display boards.

 Display Requirements

  • Self-standing background that can be put on a table
  • Self-explanatory and take no more than 5 minutes for an audience to understand from beginning to end
  • Maximum length: 80 cm
  • Maximum width: 120 cm
  • Maximum height: 3.5 m

 Display Tips

  • Neat and organized, with thought given to how the project flows
  • Have a properly placed title that grabs people's attention -- use imagination!
  • Using bright colours makes the project stand out from the others
  • Use a large font, bold writing, and limited text
  • Using more pictures, graphs, and diagrams makes the project more interesting and easier to understand. These also can help guide the presentation and emphasize important results and conclusions.
  • Proper poster balance is a must!
