What exactly are the judges looking for? How do they decide which project is the best?
Judges will assign each science fair project 6 marks that are added together to create the final score. The 6 performance criteria are:
Scientific Thought worth 25% of the total score*
Project Creativity worth 20% of the total score
Display worth 15% of the total score
Written Report worth 10% of the total score
Scientific Concepts worth 20% of the total score
Oral Presentation worth 10% of the total score
*Scientific Thought is scored differently depending on whether the project type is an experiment, an innovation, or a study. The marking scheme for the other 5 performance criteria is the same regardless of project type.
